![]() Perhaps the saving grace of the sequel is the core gameplay itself. ![]() I'm not referring to the expanded lore - this was all woven in 2016 - however, Doom Eternal just comes across as very campy. The story in 2016 also felt more serious. In contrast, Doom Eternal has taken a huge step back in it's presentation. The game felt much more grounded and the presentation is second to none - this goes from the UI, loading screens, the tone of the story, and visual style/art. I am almost saddened by how much better the actual single player campaign in Doom 2016 is compared to Doom Eternal. Doom 2016 feels like the game was made by a completely different team.
